Allocations Review Under Way

Valley United Way’s Board of Directors has announced funding in the amount of $532,000 for area agencies serving the needs of the Valley community. Valley United Way's Board of Directors made the decisions based on the recommendations of the Allocations Committee, which reviewed the requests from the agencies. Twenty-eight volunteers drawn from all walks of life in the Valley spent a month examining budgets and visiting agency sites to learn more about the services being offered by the applicants.

Adrienne Cabral, Chair of the Allocations Committee, noted that it was an especially difficult year for agencies seeking support because of the stagnant economy and state budget concerns. However, she said, "The agencies were very reasonable in their requests, and the volunteers did a tremendous job in identifying practical and fair recommendations that will benefit the Valley community. I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and dedication."
