Tinney Community Center - Ansonia The Volunteer Action Center and the Corporate Volunteer Council have once again harnessed the spirit of the Valley's corporate community as part of Valley United Way's annual Week of Caring Project to give the Tinney Community Center in Ansonia a complete makeover. During a week when Americans all over the country tried to do something positive for their communities on the anniversary of the terrible events of September 11, 2001, nearly 200 volunteers gave the Center a refreshing new look inside and outside.
American Skandia, Applica and Pitney Bowes provided funding for supplies and equipment for this project. Rug Mart donated rugs and linoleum for the floors in the GED classroom and the weight room in addition to the hallways downstairs. Food was abundant throughout the week as our work crews were fed by Domino's Pizza, Charlie & Leon's Restaurant, Big Y Supermarket, and Subway Restaurant and Dave Grant Caterers. You can take a look back at the progress of this exciting project by clicking on each day's link below to see what happened each day and who made it happen. Come back next week for a full listing of those involved and pictures of the newly reopened Center.
