The Corporate Volunteer Council which is a major component of Valley United Way's Volunteer Action Center has attracted a lot of attention since it began in 1995. Now its brochure, Building Businesses and Communities, is also receiving the same recognition after being selected for a first place award in the United Way of America's 2000 Communication Contest in the Initiative/Program Promotional Materials category for Division 3 United Ways.
The colorful four page brochure tells the unique story of the Corporate Volunteer Council showing how it serves the best interest of the business community by involving employees in a variety of special projects and ongoing activities that strengthen the community. The brochure was developed as a special project by a Tony Saha who works for Philips Medical in Shelton. It was printed pro bono by Pitney Bowes. Both companies are members of the Council.
