Team Results
The race for the Cup 2000 is over and Plastic
Molding Technology is the new champ. The win is Plastic Molding
Technology's first win inthe Cup series. They had finished
second in the Small Division in 1996, but had finished no higher
than sixth since the divisions were combined in 1997. Though
their only individual win this year came in Billiards, they
competed and did well in every event. Their final score of 93.75
was 5.25 better than second place Birmingham Group. Birmingham
Group is a three time Corporate Cup winner. Defending Champion
TEAM, Inc. finished third with a score of 85. Rifkin Travel
posted their best finish effort with 75.5 points - good for
fourth place. United Illuminating rounded out the top five with
66.5 points.
At the awards ceremony, it was also announced
that the Healthy Team competition was won by Sue Reilly and Ron
Barisano. The YMCA and Boy Scout execs teamed up to post an
impressive victory, and many competitors had the opportunity to
see the pair working out regularly in the gym at the Y. Watch
for full results to be posted on the Healthy Team page
Wednesday.
Griffin
Hospital was once again the name sponsor and a serious
competitor for the 10th
annual event, which is designed to improve fitness and quality
of life while building company morale and showing community
support.
Co-hosted by Valley United Way and the Valley
YMCA, the event features a variety of events anchored by the
Healthy Team competition. Healthy Team members are pre-screened
for a variety of health indicators at Griffin Hospital and then
spend the next three months participating in a variety of
healthy activities before returning to Griffin for a post-event
evaluation. Free healthy meals and stress reduction workshops
are also offered during the course of the event.
Other events in the series include darts, bowling, horseshoes, miniature golf and billiards. Event
venues are all across the Valley. The event will start with the
Healthy Team Event pre-testing at Griffin Hospital on February
29 and conclude
